Found new owner ![]() A fantastic and incredibly rare Charatan's Make pipe of their best period ("Lane era"), i.e. late 1960s - early 1970s, when the glory of Charatan's eclipsed all competitors, including Dunhill. Magnificent full bent (also known as "Hungarian" shape or Oom Paul)!

Found new owner ![]() H. Simmons was one of the most famous London tobacconists with a long history and very nice tobacco shop in Burlington Arcade. The pipes were ordered from different sources including the Dunhill company. In 1980 the business was acquired by Dunhill. We can't confirm that exactly this pipe was made by Dunhill, but you can compare it with similar Dunhills of the 241 or 124 shapes to see that these pipes are really very similar. Wonderful piece of briar and great addition to any collection! Found new owner ![]() For many years Oldenkott was a flagman of German pipe making along with Vauen. The company is known both by its good pipes for a good price and by its quite tangled and changeable history as well. Originally it was a Dutch company founded by Hermann Oldenkott in 1760, then it was partially bought by a German businessman August Kersten, then the remaining German subsidiary bought Dutch factories, then the company was bought by another Dutch company and finally Kersten family bought it again, but had to close in 1992. Such a 232 year long TV soap series :-) Found new owner ![]() Danish carver Preben Holm was perhaps the most bright and inspiring person in history of pipe making. He sold his first pipes before his 16 birthday. Preben Holm was one of most significant inventors and developers of "Danish pipe design" and many smokers and enthusiasts respect him as a father of freehand pipes. Found new owner ![]() The pipe represents a very lucky conjunction of two successful GBD ideas: the Prehistoric grade (distinguished by its fantastically wild and aggressive sandblast finish) and very well balanced and natural 269 bull dog shape. The pipe was made in 1970s the latest (before the company merged with Comoy's) and promises a wonderful smoke for its new owner. |
